Fall is definitely my favorite season, and one of the reasons is fall fashion. My favorite colors make a comeback, and it's finally the right temperature for a variety of clothing options. Living in coastal L.A., it's possible to dress "fall-like" for about six months out of the year, which means I get a ton of wear out of my boots and lightweight jackets.
This fall in particular is shaping up to be a smorgasbord of fabulosity. I see lots of orange, brown, taupe, camel and evergreen -- pretty much my favorite shades of the color wheel. I've already fallen in love with so many pieces. What I really like is that there seems to be a ton of English riding-inspired looks. I've always loved tweeds, plaids, browns, velvet patches on elbows, boots ... brown, orange, mustard, red ... it speaks to my English heritage, I guess, spiked with a dose of loving the "View Halloo" scene in "Mary Poppins." I want to go on a fox hunt!! (Except I don't want to hunt a real fox, because that's just mean.)
There was a page in the August 2011 Marie Claire catalog that deftly combined my love of equestrian-inspired apparel with my love of classic 1960s Mod shapes. I pretty much want everything on the page, but the orange dress from Ann Taylor Loft and the plaid coat from H&M (which is only $29!!) are my main acquisition targets. As usual, Marie Claire has teased me with things that aren't out in stores yet (at least not on ATL's website, anyway). So now I play the waiting game (cue "Jeopardy" theme music).
Here are some other things I'm craving (and most of which are way out of my price range, it should be noted):

J. Crew No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Double-Serge Wool, Bright Flame color, $120, see it here

I love the Twisted Ascot Tee, so much that I purchased it in the beige/gold and the navy, which is really more of a steel blue.
Now i'm holding out for the infamous Miss Albright mary janes with bow to show up online, then I need to take a shopping hiatus.
I just saw the H&M commercial for that coat. You better make a move on that one!
