OOTD: Pleasant peasant

I'm happy to report that last weekend's thrifting trip was a success! I managed to snag five dress shirts for Shawn, including a Banana Republic Monogram collection shirt, another Banana Republic shirt made from Italian fabric (oooh la la), an Express dress shirt, one from Zara and some other one I'm forgetting. I also scored a pair of navy wool trousers for him from Kenneth Cole. He was pleased and everything fit him perfectly, thanks to the fact that I brought along my trusty tape measure. I think I spent a total of $30 for all of it -- less than half the price of one new Express shirt. He was pleased, and he's already started incorporating the pieces into his wardrobe. Hurrah!!

I thought I'd share an outfit of the day post with you today, although the outfit in question is actually from last Thursday. In it I'm wearing a really bright and blouse-y peasant top from Forever 21, which is not something I'd normally choose. I think something just drew me to it; it's a few years old and I think I spent $13.80 on it.

The cropped pants are from Express from at least six years ago and two sizes ago. I realized this after my dear friend Vanessa pointed out that she liked the "boyfriend" pants I had on. I guess the good news is that they will make good pants to wear if I go on a nacho binge. (Which, let's face it, sounds great right about now.)

The shoes, though, are hands-down my favorite part of the outfit. They are the Soaring Pistachio Platforms from Anthropologie. Man, I waited forever for these to go on sale. I don't often wear them because they're such a statement shoe, but I like to bust them out every once in awhile because they are so cute! They always get a lot of compliments.
